Maple Almond Oatmeal- 205 calories

I don’t know about you, but the smell of cinnamon and maple syrup always make me happy in the morning. This is a quick easy breakfast and so much better for you than the sugar and chemical laced little oatmeal packets. The Greek yogurt gives this dish a creamy consistency without all the calories of milk and also boosts up the protein to keep you fuller longer. The almonds add a nice crunch and more protein, this took me 10 minutes to make this morning, quick and delicious!

What you will need to make one steamy bowl of breakfast goodness:

¼ cup oatmeal (I use quick oats, but whatever you have in the house will work)
1 tbsp sliced almonds
1 tsp real maple syrup
⅛ cup Greek yogurt
Dash of Cinnamon and nutmeg

In a large pan toast the almond slices flipping until you can smell them, remove from pan to cool. Make the oatmeal according to the directions on the package, once done sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon, add in the yogurt and ½ the maple syrup and stir. Top with almonds and the rest of the maple syrup and dig in.

This meal is packed full of protein, fiber, calcium, potassium and iron. Make it your own by adding fruit, local honey, raisins, whatever sounds good. I change this up regularly so I don’t get bored with my breakfasts and keep a stockpile of frozen berries and dried fruit to toss in. I like to use maple syrup instead of honey or sugar because it has such a heavy sweet aroma and is 25% less calories than sugar and honey, plus more calcium and potassium for strong bones and muscles.
