Any Requests?

Hello readers, I am taking a well deserved day off from cooking and blogging. Does anyone have a favorite dish they would like to see “lightened up”? Any dishes you always wanted to make but did not know where to start? I am taking requests for upcoming blog postings.

  1. Hi Audrey ! A couple items for you – I woul love to hear what you serve along with your various recipes for a comets meal. For instance, what else goes on the plate with the Mac n cheese ?

    Also, I have some lovely fingerling potatoes and baby asparagus. Any suggestions ? I usually do the potatoes with olive oil and seasoning and steam the asparagus but thought I would see if you had any creative ideas ? Thx !

    Thanks for the requests, I have some great ideas for your asparagus and lean protein to pair with the mac and cheese. I have a great idea for the potatoes, but it will need testing.

  3. Would it be possible to slimdown a corndog recipe? With the Fall Festivals around the corner, corndogs and funnel cakes are going to be a huge temptation for me.

I was comparing nutrition between almond butter and peanut butter.It doesn’t appear to be much diff but everything I read says the almond butter is better for you .Can you explain ?I have been changing my eating habits and doing what my doc said and staying at 100 carbs .I have lost a measly 4.5 lbs since jan4th.I am staying at 1500 cal /day.not sure what to do .I know I am eating better thAn before .Thamks for your time -Shelly

    • Hi Shelly,

      What a fantastic question! I personally like almonds because they boost metabolism.

      I personally use both but have come to prefer the almond butter because of the slight (divine) chocolate flavor and the metabolism boosting properties.

      Choose what YOU prefer, just make sure to read the ingredients. The list of ingredients is much more important than the nutrition label. Companies have started using the nutrition label it as marketing, they know we look at it every time we pick something up. You want to make sure all the ingredients are all natural FIRST, no preservatives or artificial sweeteners, then look at the nutrition label.

      For instance here are the ingredients on my Almond Butter and Peanut Butter, both are excellent examples of all natural, healthy food.

      My “Mara Natha All Natural No Stir Almond Butter” ingredients read:
      Dry Roasted Almonds, Organic Cane Sugar, Palm Oil, Sea Salt

      Natural Jif Creamy (yes JIF has all natural!)
      Peanuts, Sugar, Palm Oil, Salt, Molasses

      Keep in mind both Almond and Peanut butter are high in calories and fat. So enjoy in moderation and use fruits to help add flavor and cut calories like in my Nutty Banana Roll Ups or my Grilled Almond Butter and Banana Sandwich. In both you can substitute all natural peanut butter if you prefer, but do give almond butter a try, it’s fantastic!
