It ain’t Superbowl without some nuts, and I’m not talking about overzealous fans, I’m talking a sweet and salty treat to satisfy your munchies while watching the game. After the game put a handful in a bag in your purse for a quick snack or toss some on top of a salad. There is a cookbook I am very excited about and have pre-ordered called “A Lifetime of Recipes: Fabulous Fresh Fruit” by Beverly Jo Noble, I talked Beverly into being my guest on this blog a couple of times a month and today is her first guest spot. Check out her website and information at the bottom of the page and enjoy her marvelous recipe.
3 cups Pecans
3 cups Walnuts
3 cups Raw Almonds
1 ½ cup Turbinado Sugar (Sugar in the Raw)
1 ½ tsp. Salt
2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
3 Egg Whites
Preheat oven to 350°. Line 2 baking sheets with foil.
Combine sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk egg whites until frothy in large bowl. Add the nuts and stir until well coated. Add seasonings and stir again. Spread nuts on baking pans in a single layer. Bake for 20 minutes.
Let cool; then remove from pan, breaking nuts apart if needed. Cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Will keep for 10 days at room temperature or in freezer up to 3 months… if you can keep your hands off them for that long!
1/4 cup of nuts contain:
