I have been running through the list of Ouaker Oatmeal Packets, and this one use to be my favorite. I want to remind you all that the little packets have preservatives and thickening agents plus 13 grams of sugar vs. this recipe only 7 grams of sugar, not the best choice in food if you ask me. The packets use quick oats, I have recently switched to Old Fashioned oats not because of any nutritional reasons, but because they are so much tastier, bigger and do not turn to mush. If you love quick oats by all means use them instead of rolled oats in this recipe.
Makes one serving:
1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Maple Syrup
1/2 tsp Dark Brown Sugar
In a small sauce pan get 1 cup of water boiling, add the oatmeal and cinnamon and reduce to low. Stir once in a while until all the water is absorbed. Add in the maple syrup and mix together. Move oatmeal to a bowl, sprinkle with brown sugar and serve.

Love your ideas on how to make oatmeal better while keeping it healthy
I find myself craving breakfast food today – this might be just what I need! (And probably healthier than putting down a batch of pancakes on my own.)
This sure will curb that sweat tooth too
Happy Cooking!
Making this today for breakfast. Liking how the oatmeal makes me full longer. I never ate oatmeal growing up due to the texture, but it is growing on me. Plus, I am pregnant and supposedly oatmeal ups your breastmilk supply, so good to get in the habit of eating it regularly now for when baby comes! Thanks!
Do you think you can make this ahead of time and freeze and just reheat when ready to eat it? I’m always in a rush in the morning!
I haven’t tried it, but I have heard that many people make it ahead and put it in the fridge. I say try it out and if it works PLEASE SHARE so that everyone sees
You can also try out some of my scone recipes, they are great to make ahead and freeze!
HAPPY COOKING!

I ended up just making it the night before…it’s quick enough to make I can make it each night, maybe even 2 days ahead and leave it in the fridge! It was soo good and kept me full till lunch, which the instant Quaker oatmeal packets could never do!
