I have been getting a lot of requests for smoothies, I am not a huge fan of powdered protein. It just doesn’t seem all natural to me, I would rather use ingredients that naturally have high protein like Almond Butter and Almond Milk. Both these ingredients also boost metabolism, score! I’m sure there is a protein powder out there with no chemicals, preservatives or fake sweeteners but what works for me is all natural ingredients, period!
The night before you make this, peel and cut a banana into three pieces. Place in a Ziploc bag and place in the freezer until the next day and while you do that whip up a batch of my Fat Free Chocolate Syrup. It only takes 10 minutes and it has no chemicals, preservatives or chemical derived thickening agents (Hershey’s has all this).
Makes 2 smoothies (or one BIG one)-
1 cup Unsweetened Almond Milk
1 frozen Banana
1 tbsp Homemade Fat Free Chocolate Syrup
1 tbsp Almond Butter
1 large handful ice
In a blender combine the frozen banana, milk, chocolate syrup, almond butter and ice and blend… That was easy!
Move to 2 cute glasses or travel cups and enjoy. By all means if you are super hungry have the entire thing and it will only be 302 calories. Watch out for the brain freeze!

I’m sorry, I have to comment, but almond butter and almond milk don’t have that much protein… I drink almond milk all the time, but not for the protein. I think it only has about 2 grams per cup.
I agree! I wish they had more, but to me I would rather have this then chemical, preservative and chemical derived thickening agent filled protein powders!
If you look at the nutritional information at the bottom you will see its a well balanced meal.
Since I only wanted one serving, I cut the recipe in half and added a handful of spinach. It was delicious! And I’m telling all my friends to make their own chocolate syrup. It’s so easy! Thanks!
Sounds delish! Thanks for sharing! You can share that recipe for Chocolate Syrup (or any recipes of mine) with your friends on Facebook, Pintrest, however you like

What do you recommend I sub for almond butter? I’m allergic
What a bummer, my Aunt is too. Usually (in baking) I say to just use whatever milk you prefer, so skim or 2% would work, and they would work here too. However, you can probably drop the milk down to 1/2 cup (or 1/2 cup water or coconut water) and plop in another banana, but a NON FROZEN one and that should give you the same consistency and close to the same calorie count. 1/2 cup Apple sauce and 1/2 cup milk of your choice would also probably work.
I am out of bananas otherwise I would test for you. Let me know if you try it and how it comes out.

FYI, I ran across a recipe on pinterest for making your own almond butter….totally just plain almonds and a food processor. I haven’t tried it yet, but thought you might be interested depending on the cost/ingredients of your almond butter….there is even a recipe out there for making your almond milk, again cheaper than buying it and with no other ingredients from what I remember (it was longer ago that I saw/pinned that one). We are slowly but surely replacing processed foods here for real food….just a few regular items left and we will be there
I switched the almond milk for coconut milk (vanilla) and it tastes delicious. More calories, but I’m not a fan of almond milk and didn’t want to have a bunch leftover in my fridge. I will have to halve the recipe next time!
Great job tweaking it slightly to make it “your own” the idea here is that you are eating all natural foods, and you accomplished that
So glad you liked it!

Just made it! so yummy!
Yeah! Glad you liked it!! My Mocha Cappuccino is really yummy too!

this looks really good although I will not eat bananas, is there a subsitute that would be just as tasty and not too many calories. I was thinking maybe strawberries
Strawberries or raspberries would be really good!

what about using Mango’s the only fruit I have in the house right now, plus was thinking about adding a little KAHLÚA (my hubby’s idea) as he likes adding booze if he can.
You can try it but I don’t think that will come out good. If he wants something w/ booze in it try my Strawberry Margaritas, just make them Mango Margaritas

Reblogged this on The Magic Herb and commented:
Sounds delicious!
I am wondering about mixing all the different yummy suggestions. I definately want to use the cinnamon/honey suggestions (drinking) and then the Apple/Cinnamon waterfor weight loss, but the lemon/ginger Mango would be great for my tummy and the lemon would be good for my face and age lines….so I’m just a little confused on which to use and when. I don’t want to spend 1/2 the day running to the ladies room! Thanks for your help!

I am looking forward to making some of your dishes.
Hi, I was just wondering if I could make this smoothie along with your Mocha Cappuccinos the night before I am supposed to have them. I am still in high school and have absolutely no time to make anything in the morning. Thanks!
I didn’t take the time to read all the comments, just a little bit. I just wanted to say that probably any nut butter can be substituted for the almond butter (for any allergies), sunbutter is a good one. Also, to add more protein just add ground Chia seed. It is super healthy (check it out!) and if you grind it, you won’t have seeds in your teeth later, lol. I grind mine in a canning jelly jar with my blender (most blender bottoms will fit regular mouth canning jars).
Printing this — sounds like my kinda’ breakfast.
Can you go without the butter i went shopping and didnt find any nut butter but i got the almond milk?
Yes, you can also use all natural peanut butter or skip all together.

Can i use peanut butter?
